It is shown in this paper that ifG is the group ofk-points of a semisimple algebraic groupG over a local fieldk of positive characteristic such that all itsk-simple factors are ofk-rank 1 and Γ ⊂G is a non-cocompact irreducible lattice then Γ admits a fundamental domain which is a union of translates of Siegel domains. As a consequence we deduce that ifG has more than one simple factor, then Γ is finitely generated and by a theorem due to Venkataramana, it is arithmetic.  相似文献

The multigrid waveform relaxation (WR) algorithm has been fairly studied and implemented for parabolic equations. It has been found that the performance of the multigrid WR method for a parabolic equation is practically the same as that of multigrid iteration for the associated steady state elliptic equation. However, the properties of the multigrid WR method for hyperbolic problems are relatively unknown. This paper studies the multigrid acceleration to the WR iteration for hyperbolic problems, with a focus on the convergence comparison between the multigrid WR iteration and the multigrid iteration for the corresponding steady state equations. Using a Fourier-Laplace analysis in two case studies, it is found that the multigrid performance on hyperbolic problems no longer shares the close resemblance in convergence factors between the WR iteration for parabolic equations and the iteration for the associated steady state equations.  相似文献

A method is presented for solving time-varying independent modal-space Kalman filter equations in terms of 2×2 transition matrices, rather than in terms of the more commonly used 4×4 transition matrix solution technique. The basic method consists of replacing the well-known product form solution for the differential matrix Riccati equation with an alternate solution form which consists of a steady-state plus transient term.  相似文献

In this paper we carry on our study [4] of the algebraic representations of general stochastic processes. We give methods for constructing the algebraic representation of a stochastic process from the distribution of the process at a fixed finite number of times, we develope some techniques of integration, and we introduce the notion of a fibre bundle representation of a stochastic process. We then use this fibre bundle representation to study existence, methods of computation and the geometry of Markov process representations of the general stochastic process; thus extending [4] where existence was only discussed for discrete time or simple stochastic processes.  相似文献

An unstructured non‐nested multigrid method is presented for efficient simulation of unsteady incompressible Navier–Stokes flows. The Navier–Stokes solver is based on the artificial compressibility approach and a higher‐order characteristics‐based finite‐volume scheme on unstructured grids. Unsteady flow is calculated with an implicit dual time stepping scheme. For efficient computation of unsteady viscous flows over complex geometries, an unstructured multigrid method is developed to speed up the convergence rate of the dual time stepping calculation. The multigrid method is used to simulate the steady and unsteady incompressible viscous flows over a circular cylinder for validation and performance evaluation purposes. It is found that the multigrid method with three levels of grids results in a 75% reduction in CPU time for the steady flow calculation and 55% reduction for the unsteady flow calculation, compared with its single grid counterparts. The results obtained are compared with numerical solutions obtained by other researchers as well as experimental measurements wherever available and good agreements are obtained. This paper deals with the computation of the formally integrable systems underlying a given quasi-linear polynomial DAE. We use as stopping condition the criterium of differential stability, which happens to be equivalent to the formal integrability in dimension 1. A symbolic method is developed to compute effectively a finite collection of so-called triangular stable DAEs, whose solutions are precisely all the solutions of the initial system. Besides, this algorithm enables to determine the generic points of a triangular DAE, by checking the non-nullity of a single polynomial. In this paper, we consider the extension of three classical ODE estimation techniques (Richardson extrapolation, Zadunaisky's technique and solving for the correction) to DAEs. Their convergence analysis is carried out for semi-explicit index-1 DAEs solved by a wide set of Runge-Kutta methods. Experimentation of the estimation techniques with RADAU5 is also presented: their behaviour for index-1 and -2 problems, and for variable step size integration is investigated.
